Acylpiperazine Derivatives of Formula (Ia) wherein R 4 is 4. means -O-, -N (R.sup.7) -, -C (R.sup.8), sub.sub.2- or a bond, R.sup.5. is an alkylene chain or alkylidene chain containing from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, or when R 4 is 4. means a bond, then R.sup.5. means an alkylidene chain having 1 to 8 carbon atoms optionally substituted by a phenyl or naphthyl group or -N (R.sup.7) substituted by a phenyl or naphthyl group; is -C (O) -, -C (S) -, -CH.sub.2- or a bond; and R.sup.1a, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.7, R.sup.8. have a number of specific meanings that are useful as anti-inflammatory agents. The invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds of the invention and the use of these compounds in the treatment of inflammatory disorders in humans. |
