| abstract | Coatings, in particular base lacquers, that contain at least one hydroxyl group-containing polyester are characterised in that (1) the hydroxyl group-containing polyester has a mean molecular weight Mw from 40,000 to 200,000 and a heterogeneity Mw/Mn > 8; (2) at least 50% by weight dicarboxylic acids or their esterifiable derivatives are used to produce the polyester, the proportion of phthalic anhydride amounting to maximum 80% by weight. All percentages by weight relate to the total weight of the carboxylic acids used to prepare the polyester. Also disclosed are a process for preparing said coatings and their use as base lacquers in a process for producing a multilayered protective and/or decorative coating. |
