A slurry is applied to the metal-based substrate, for example the superalloy, which comprises a brazing material and a volatile component. The slurry may comprise a bond coat material or the substrate coat material may be applied subsequently, in solid form or as a second slurry. The slurry and bond coat material are then subjected to drying and fusion to a substrate. The brazing material may comprise, for example, nickel, cobalt, iron, precious metals and alloys of these metals, or with the addition of silicon or boron, the bond coat material may comprise, for example, aluminum compounds MCrAlX, where M is iron, nickel or cobalt and X is yttrium , tantalum, silicon, hafnium, titanium, zirconium, boron or carbon. |
