titleOfInvention Process for cleaning oxidized, hot-rolled copper rods
abstract The invention relates to a method for cleaning oxidized, rolled copper rods which, after casting, emerge from a rolling mill connected downstream thereof in a continuously operating continuous caster and which have oxidic layers on their surface when they emerge from the rolling mill. The procedure is u. a. characterized in that the oxidized, finished rolled rod is passed through one or more reduction zones at a temperature of about 650 ° C; that in the reduction zone (s) a dilute, aqueous hydrocarbon-containing solution is used as the reduction liquid and that the rate of the chemical reaction that takes place to reduce the two existing oxide types is intensified by generating a bath turbulence by means of one or more ultrasound sources.
