abstract The invention relates to a method for determining the composition of a fuel mixture of a first fuel and at least a second fuel for operating an internal combustion engine, wherein the fuel mixture is supplied to at least one cylinder of the internal combustion engine and wherein the fuel mixture is ignited with a spark of a spark plug. According to the invention, it is envisaged that the composition of the fuel mixture is determined individually from an ignition voltage at the spark plug or from a spark duration of the spark, or in combination of the two quantities. The invention further relates to a device suitable for carrying out the method. Method and apparatus allow a quick determination of the composition of a fuel mixture after a first ignition.
