abstract A method for determining allowable operating parameters of a battery is disclosed. For this purpose, operating parameters of the battery are measured (S100) and further relevant operating parameters (SOC, SOH) of the battery are determined from the measured operating parameters (S101). Furthermore, it is provided to compare at least one of the determined operating parameters (SOC, SOH) with a predefined comparison interval (S102). If the at least one operating parameter (SOC, SOH) is within the predefined comparison interval, the permissible operating range of the at least one operating parameter (SOC, SOH) is determined on the basis of a mathematical battery model (S103). If, however, the at least one operating parameter (SOC, SOH) is outside the predefined comparison interval, the permissible operating range of the at least one operating parameter (SOC, SOH) is determined on the basis of previously stored battery data (S104).
