abstract A method (200) for starting a hybrid vehicle (10) comprising the steps of, before starting to drive: (a) a request for starting a hybrid vehicle (10) is received (202) including a primary power source (20), a charger (30), a battery (32), an inverter / converter (34), and at least one electric motor (36), and an auxiliary power source (22) comprising an internal combustion engine (60) and a generator (62), wherein the hybrid vehicle (10) is already connected to an external power source (40); (b) determining whether the auxiliary power source (22) is needed to satisfy the request to start the hybrid vehicle (10) (210); and (c) when the method (200) determines that the auxiliary power source (22) is needed to meet the request to start the hybrid vehicle (10), the external power source (40) is deactivated and the auxiliary power source (22) is activated becomes (214), and when the method (200) determines that the auxiliary power source (22) is not needed to meet the request for starting the hybrid vehicle (10), the external power source (40) is activated or kept active becomes (212).
