abstract The invention relates to a pyrotechnic gas generator device (1) which comprises a gas generator (2) for a pyrotechnically activatable safety element of a vehicle. According to the invention, a non-ignitable first means is stored in the gas generator (2) and a non-ignitable second means is stored in a storage unit (3) coupled or coupled to the gas generator (2) which can be supplied to the first means upon release of a triggering condition for triggering the security element in that the two means in the gas generator (2) form an ignitable mixture which is ignitable in order to activate the security element.
