titleOfInvention | In-situ conditioning in mass spectrometer systems |
abstract | A method of operating a mass spectrometer system (100, 700, 1100, 1500, 1900), the method comprising the steps of: flowing a conditioning gas into a mass spectrometer (104) of the mass spectrometer system (100, 700, 1100, 1500, 1900) without a sample into the mass spectrometer (104), wherein the mass spectrometer (104) is conditioned by the conditioning gas; andintroducing a sample with a carrier gas into the conditioned mass spectrometer (104) and collecting analytical data from the sample, wherein the conditioning gas purifies the mass spectrometer (104) and prevents non-analyte of the sample from accumulating in the mass spectrometer (104) Addition of the conditioning gas causes no chemical ionization (CI), so that in the mass spectrometer (104) the mass spectral characteristics of analytes of the sample does not change, wherein the carrier gas differs from the conditioning gas, and wherein the conditioning gas is hydrogen, argon or both hydrogen and argon having. |
