There is provided a honeycomb filter which can effectively suppress the peeling of particles such as soot from the surface of the partition wall. A honeycomb structure filter includes: a columnar honeycomb structure body 4 having a porous partition wall 1 arranged to surround a plurality of cells 2; and a plugging portion 5. The partition wall 1 defining the inflow cells 2a comprises a plurality of partition wall parts 10 that form sides of a polygon which is a sectional shape of each inflow cell 2a, the partition wall parts 10 each having a surface that is an area that is the Inflow cell 2a defined. The partition wall 1 defining the drainage cells 2b is loaded with an exhaust gas purifying catalyst 9 on at least a part of the surface. The partition wall 1, which is arranged so that it surrounds an inflow cell 2a, is designed in such a way that it contains, as partition wall parts 10, one or more first partition wall parts with a catalyst loading area ratio of more than 10% and one or more second partition wall parts with a catalyst loading area ratio of 10% or less. |
