abstract |
Connector inserts and other structures that have high signal integrity and low insertion loss are reliable and easy to manufacture. An example may provide a connector insert that is essentially formed using a printed circuit board. Contacts on the connector insert may be similar to contacts on a circuit board and may be connected to traces with matched impedances on the circuit board to improve signal integrity and reduce insertion loss. The circuit board can be manufactured in a way that results in increased reliability. To improve manufacturability, plating, soldering block and other manufacturing steps inherent in the manufacture of printed circuit boards can be used. Special tools can be used that can provide a chamfered edge on the connector inserts. |
