| abstract | The colour ink jet recording method comprises the step of forming pixels 202, 203 of a black ink consisting of a plurality of ink droplets, wherein colour inks (pixel 201) having a surface tension of less than 40 dyn/cm at 20 DEG C and the black ink having a surface tension of not less than 40 dyn/cm are used. The method is stated to provide a high-quality monochrome print, does not cause bleeding derived from intermixing of a black ink with colour inks and can equalize the dot diameter of four colour ink dots, offer a high drying rate and provide a sharp and vivid colour image. Also disclosed are methods of printing in border areas between black images and coloured images, including:- (a) Printing the coloured pixels first as an undercoat, and applying black droplets in superposition (b) Selectivity omitting some black pixels and printing coloured pixels instead. <IMAGE> |
