abstract The X-ray tube has an electron-emitting cathode (11) and a driven rotary anode with an anode plate (4) in the path of the accelerated electron beam, the latter deflected and focused via an electromagnetic system (19) with a number of coils. The cathode provides a rotationally symmetrical round beam (13) with an axis which is offset from the rotation axis of the anode plate, for deflection from the anode plate angled edge (14). The electromagnetic system provides a dipole-free quadrapole field for forming the beam cross-section.
