Malonaldehyde derivatives, comprising optionally substituted malonaldehyde bisacetals and prop-1-yn-3-al bisacetals, are used for coloring keratinous fibers in the presence of compound(s) selected from amines, N-heterocyclic compounds, aminoacids, oligopeptides and aromatic hydroxyl compounds, and/or methin (CH)-active compounds. Malonaldehyde derivatives (I), comprising (A) optionally substituted malonaldehyde bisacetals of formula (IA) and prop-1-yn-3-al diacetals of formula (IB), are used for coloring keratinous fibers in the presence of (B) compound(s) containing primary or secondary amino groups or hydroxyl (OH) groups, selected from primary or secondary aliphatic or aromatic amines, N-heterocyclic compounds, alpha - to w-aminoacids, oligopeptides or 2-9 aminoacids and aromatic OH compounds, and/or methine (CH)-active compounds; R1, R2 = 1-4C alkyl; R3 = hydrogen (H), halogen, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C (hydroxy)alkoxy or optionally substituted (hetero)aryl; or 2 groups = a group forming a 5-, 6- or 7-membered ring. Independent claims are also included for (a) a color composition containing these compounds; and (b) a method of coloring using this type of composition. |
