abstract A spindle motor includes a stationary shaft which is fixed to a housing of a recording disk device and a hub body which is supported for rotation about the stationary shaft by upper and lower ball bearings. A part serves to at least partially surround the hub body around the upper and lower ball bearings. The thermal expansion of the hub body can be suppressed by the part which has a thermal expansion coefficient which is smaller than that of the hub body.
