| abstract |
The pod (3) for the jet drive (9) is held on a strut (4) on the stern of the ship. It incorporates a duct which may have a protective grating (21) at the intake (19). The electric motor (10) is accommodated in a central body (11) which is held by flow straightening vanes (23) at the rear. The motor drives a ducted propeller (16). There is a convergent nozzle at the rear to increase the speed of the water leaving the duct. |
