titleOfInvention Metal salt recovery - from waste galvanising liquors by salting out with organic solvent
abstract Metal salts are recovered from rinsing and waste liquors from galvanic operations by precipitation as hydrated oxide, followed by dissoln. in acid or by use of ion exchanger which is regenerated by acid, so that eluate or regenerate containing metal salt dissolved in excess acid is obtained. Organic solvent, pref. acetone, is added to this to effect salting out and salt is filtered off. Process is economical and avoids usual difficulties associated with high solubility of metal salts in acids. both solvent and acid can be recovered and recycled.
