abstract The metal of the exchanger is electrically connected to one pole of a D.C. source and an electrode inserted into the header is connected to the other. When the exchanger is connected to the +ve pole, the method is called anodic and vice versa. A passive film is built upon the surface by the electric current and this permits higher temperatures and velocities to be used in tubes of cheaper material.
