| abstract |
Method is used for preparing liquid N2 which is used to prevent access of oxygen to tanks contg. liquid natural gas on board marine tankers. Gaseous N2 is cooled by heat exchange with part of the liquid natural gas cargo until liquefaction of the N2 occurs, and the liquid N2 is then stored. The gaseous N2 is originally under a pressure of up to 30 atmos. The small quantities of liquid natural gas used can be reliquefied in the plant on board ship or this gas can be used as fuel for the engines. The liquid N2 produced is stored in vessels enclosed by liquid natural gas. |
