Novel anti-inflammatory benzoxazol-2-carbamidines of formula (I):- (where R1 is H, halogen, lower alkyl or alkoxy, nitro or amino; and R2-4 are each H or opt. halogen-, alkyl- or alkoxy-substd. lower alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or aryl) and their hydrochlorides, are used in cosmetics, pref. as active ingredients in sun-protective or anti-sunburn aq., emulsified, oily or pastelike compsns. in 0.01-10 (0.1-5) wt.% concn.; also in skin-and shaving lotions, lotions or sticks against insect bites, shaving powder, and baby-powder, -cream or -lotion. (I) are non-toxic and have max. absorption, in erythema-causing uv. range of 280-320 m. |
