Compsns. for oxidative dyeing of hair contains 5,7-diamino-8-hydroxyquinolines having general formula (I): (where X and Y are H, OH or 1-4C alkyl provided they are not H simultaneously) or their opt. organic salts, as developers, and stranded coupling components for oxidn. hair dyes. Compsns. are in the form of e.g. creams, emulsion gels or solns., giving strong light- to dark-brown shades. Dyeings are fast. (I) are water-soln. storage stable, are non-toxic and do not irritate the skin. Dyeings can be striped with reducing agents. |
