| abstract | Filter system for dry physical removal of smoke from exhaust gas streams consists of passing the gas stream through bed(s) of filter material. This consists of wood particles of various sizes. Sawdust is esp. suitable. The filter chamber can take beds of circular or rectangular cross section. It consists of a layer of sawdust suitable thickness on a porous base. The beds can be self charging and emptying. The filter housing can be connected by a duct to the smoking chamber. Esp. for use with smoking processes used in the prepn. and preservation of various food products such as smoked meats and fish. The system allows pollutants to be removed by the same material as used to produce the smoke. The material can then be used to fire the smoke chamber. The syst em can be constructed for continuous bed removal. |
