The girder of extruded aluminium is partic. for structural work, having a web with a flange on one or both sides, the latter of U-section open away from the web. The arms (4,4') of the U are bent over towards the inside, while the web is in the form of a hollow chamber (1). The two flanges can be of the same cross-section, their arms being flush with the outside faces of the web. There can be recesses on the inside in the outside walls of the hollow chamber at the centre, reducing the wall thickness, and there can be two or more chambers in the web. |
