titleOfInvention "ELECTROLYSIS FOR THE EXTRACTION AND REFINING OF NON-FERROUS METALS OR THEIR ALLOYS"
abstract The invention relates to the extraction and refining of nonferrous metals by electrolysis from melts. The electrolyser is an electrolysing bath (1) which has a lid (2) and in which a cathode chamber and an anode chamber (3 and 8, respectively), containing liquid-metal electrodes, are accommodated. Each electrode is formed by a collecting dish (11) and walls adjacent to its entire circumference. According to the invention, the anode chamber (8) of the electrolyser is mounted on the insulating element (10) above the cathode chamber (3). The collecting dish (11) of the anode chamber (8) is made of porous dielectric. A channel which joins the anode chamber (8) and the cathode chamber (3) is situated between the walls (12) of the anode chamber (8) and the insulating element (10). The electrolyser is expediently used in nonferrous metal metallurgical plants for extracting metals such as bismuth, indium, antimony, lead and the like from their melts. <IMAGE>
