A detonator (igniter) mixture which can be initiated with relatively little energy contains about 1-5 % by weight of carbon black and this ensures that the said mixture can be reliably ignited by a laser. The igniter mixture consists of very finely divided constituents, with an exothermically (high temperature) combusting metal powder, such as zirconium, titanium or boron, having a particle size of < 3 mu m. |
