| abstract | The apparatus consists of a scraper chain (6) which is attached to a chassis or a slide, is run around two deflection rollers (7, 8) and has upright grippers (10). The upper strand of the scraper chain (6) conveys the picked-up mineral (11) upwards at an angle via a conveyor table (9). A drum (1) is arranged in front of the deflection roller (7) located near the sea bed. The casing of the drum (1) is provided with rakes (3) at uniform spacing. The drum (1) is driven in the opposite direction to the scraper chain (6), its peripheral velocity being greater than the rate of travel of the apparatus. The mineral nodules (11) lying on the sea bed (4) are released from the sea bed by the rakes (3) of the drum (1) and are conveyed towards the grippers (10) of the scraper chain (6). <IMAGE> |
