Method and radio paging system for selectively transmitting calls via a call centre (RZ), a ground transmitting station EFSt and a satellite SAT to ground receiving stations ES and from there in each case via at least one local broadcast transmitter S to mobile subscribers. To utilise the transmission capacity from the ground transmitting station to the satellite as well as possible when covering very large areas, and to keep switching functions on the ground, the calls for mobile subscribers E which are located in different geographic call zones DK, F, GB, are combined to call-zones-specific call packets in the call centre RZ, bordered into frames of constant or variable length and transmitted to the ground transmitting station EFSt. The ground receiving station ES of in each case one call zone receives all call packets but only forwards those which are intended for this call zone (Figure 1). <IMAGE> |
