abstract | The invention relates to a process for the preparation of [2,8-bis(trifluoromethyl)-4-quinolyl]-2-pyridinylmethanone, comprising the reaction of 2,8-bis(trifluoromethyl)-4-quinolyllithium with 2-cyanopyridine. To form 2,8-bis(trifluoromethyl)-4-quinolyllithium, an excess of alkyllithium and/or an alkyllithium complex is used and the 2,8-bis(trifluoromethyl)-4-quinolyllithium formed is reacted in situ with an excess of 2-cyanopyridine in a dry solvent which is inert with respect to the intended reaction. |
