abstract |
The liquid-cooled cylinder head of a fuel mix-compressing internal-combustion engine consists of an aluminium-boron alloy containing approximately from 2.5 to 4% of boron. This alloy is distinguished by a very high thermal conductivity of approximately 200 W/m@C. This makes it possible, with minimal cooling effort, to keep the temperature of the combustion chamber-side surface of the combustion chamber wall at a temperature which is distinctly below the autoignition temperature of the fuel-air mix. The tendency to knocking is thus considerably reduced. |
