abstract A system for determn. of cyanides in a sample comprises (A) photoillumination means for producing UV radiation to dissociate cyanides contains in an alkaline sample; (B) filter means between the photoillumination means (A) and the sample for passing lower frequency UV radiation to produce an irradiated sample in which cyanides have been dissociated, while blocking high frequency UV radiation to inhibit thiocyanate dissociation; (C) thin-film distn. means for separating cyanide from the irradiated sample to produce recovered cyanide for measurement and (D) measuring means for generating a recordable signal indicating the quantity of cyanide recovered.
