abstract | The invention relates to a dry, presensitised plate for the production of a lithographic printing plate which does not require any damping solution (fountain solution), comprising a substrate with a photosensitive layer and a silicone rubber layer in this sequence thereon, where the photosensitive layer comprises at least one homopolymer or copolymer having a molecular weight of from 5,000 to 1,000,000, for example a copolymer of allyl methacrylate and ss-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (molar ratio 9:1, average molecular weight approximately 40,000), and a photopolymerisation initiator. The dry, presensitised plate exhibits a small change in sensitivity due to changes during exposure, can be treated with a fairly mild developer and gives a dry lithographic printing plate which does not require any damping solution and has excellent image reproducibility. |
