abstract | In burning carbonaceous materials having a specific grain size in a spiral stream, the combustion is initially started allothermically during a relatively short time interval, esp. using ignition firing. The material introduced as material-conveying air mixt. to be burned and combustion air are tangentially introduced into the combustion chamber, and after the start-up time interval further combustion is carried out independently at the required temp.. The novelty is that at least the independent combustion is carried out at more than 1200 deg. C independent of throughput (kg/hr) of the material to be burned. A spiral-stream firing appts. for carrying out the process is also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The appts. can be used to burn filter dust produced from the carbonisation of Al-waste contg. amorphous C and finely ground elementary Al charged with dioxin and furan, and also used to burn finely ground Ca-cpds. and ground coal and coke originating from filter appts. of e.g. waste disposal plants. |
