abstract |
High pressure water is supplied through a stiff hose (5) which is fed out by rotation of the drum (4). The extending hose with a nozzle head (8) forms a lance (7) which moves in the direction (P) along the pipe. In the motor drive to the drum is a limit clutch (16). The torque limit is set above the value required to overcome the normal reaction force of the high pressure water jet as the lance advances. If however the pipe being cleaned is blocked the resistance increases until the balls (22) of the clutch ride out of depressions in plates (19) and (25) effectively disengaging the drive. The lance is now pushed back from the obstruction until the balls reseat and the clutch is once more engaged. This pecking action prevents over-feeding and maintains an optimum distance of the jet from the obstruction. USE/ADVANTAGE - More effective cleaning action and reduced cleaning time. |
