titleOfInvention | MICRO CAPSULE Ink Composition |
abstract | Microcapsule ink compsn. contains microcapsules (I), vehicle (II) and photopolymerisation initiator (III). (II) includes UV-curable cpd(s). (IIA) having a Shore A hardness of max. 85 degree after cure. The Shore A hardness of cured (IIA) is max. 75 deg., pref. ca. 20-75 deg. (IIA) has a Brookfield viscosity of ca. 1-10000 mPa.s (at 25 deg. C and 60 rpm). The ink contains 5-70 (wt.)% (I), 30-95% (II) and 0.06-19% (III). 30-100% of (II) is (IIA) and the amt, of (III) is 0.2-20% w.r.t. (IIA). (II) may also contain volatile and/or high-boiling solvents, resins, waxes and/or oils. (II) may also consists of a mixt. of photopolymerisable prepolymer and photopolymerisable monomer, pref. in 20/80 to 90/10 ratio. (I) have walls of amino/aldehyde resin, pref. melamine/HCHO resin; and an average particle size of 1-10 microns. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in prodn. of pressure-sensitive copying material by coating a substrate sheet and UV cure. Suitable for printing, e.g. by flexographic, letterpress, offset, gravure or screen printing in amts. of 1-10, pref. 2-6 g/m2, and gives higher quality than usual and avoids environmental and safety problems. |
