titleOfInvention Process for the recovery of solventborne synthetic resin paint waste
abstract Process for recovery of waste synthetic resin lacquer which contains solvent; comprises mixing the waste with 5 wt.% of an acyl polyethylene glycol ester emulsifier; mixing with an equal amt. of 20% sulphuric acid; adding 5-10% aq. polyvinyl alcohol soln. to the emulsion in an amt. of 1-5 wt.% and removing the solvent with steam; adding 10 wt.% of a partially etherified methylolmelamine as 60% aq. soln. of an amino- or phenoplast-precondensate contg. methylol gps., and stirring for 15 minutes; filtering off synthetic resin lacquer residue in the form of 100-500 micron, swimming particles; and drying. USE/ADVANTAGE - The product is recovered and re-used. The solvent is recovered completely, and no waste requiring special treatment remains. The process can be used with acrylic, alkyd, and cumarone-indene resins.
