The application describes compounds of formula (I) where A is a carbon-carbon double bond characterized by a stereochemical E or Z configuration, or A is a carbon-carbon triple bond, Et is ethyl, R is hydroxyl, and R is hydrogen or = CH or R denotes hydrogen or fluorine, and R denotes = CH. These compounds stimulate the differentiation of HL-60 cells and, accordingly, can be used as agents for the treatment of neoplastic diseases such as leukemia. |
