The invention is directed to methods for shutting down reaction systems. Reaction systems are those that use catalysts containing molecular sieves, in particular metal aluminophosphate molecular sieves, especially metal aluminophosphate molecular sieves, which are susceptible to loss of catalytic activity due to contact with water molecules. The methods provide suitable mechanisms for stopping the feed to the reactor and unloading the catalyst to protect it from the loss of catalytic activity that can occur due to contact with water molecules. |
