abstract The present invention is directed to an inspection system that has a radiation source, an array of detectors, an inspection area and a processing unit, wherein the processing unit a) receives a radiographic image, b) segments a radiographic image based on attenuation or transmission of radiation, c) identifies at least one a segmented area in a radiographic image, d) filters at least one segmented area using at least one geometric filter, e) generates a vector ry features using filtered segmented region and f) compares the feature vectors with predetermined values to determine if an object with a high atomic number.
