titleOfInvention | METHOD OF TRANSFORMING METHANE TO ETHANE |
abstract | The invention relates to a method for producing ethane, which consists in contacting methane with a metal catalyst selected from metal hydrides, organometallic compounds, and mixtures thereof. In addition, the invention relates to a method for converting methane to carbon-containing products, which consists in contacting methane with a metal catalyst containing at least one metal Me selected from lanthanides, actinides and metals from groups 2-12 of the Periodic Table of the Elements, in order to produce ethane with a relative selectivity of at least 65 wt.%, especially at least 98 or 99 wt.%, taking into account the carbon-containing products formed in this method. The method may be a one-step process, preferably carried out under conditions that include a non-oxidative combination of methane, in particular, during the production of ethane, almost constant process conditions are maintained, and the process is preferably carried out continuously, for example, at a temperature in the range from -30 to + 800 ° C, preferably from 20 to 500 ° C with a total absolute pressure in the range from 10 to 100 MPa, preferably from 0.1 to 50 MPa. The metal catalyst can be selected from metal catalysts supported and preferably supported on a solid support. One of the main advantages of the present invention is to obtain ethane with very high selectivity. The international application was published together with an international search report. |
