titleOfInvention METHOD
abstract The present invention relates to betainized crosslinked polymer microparticles, to compositions containing them in the form of a temperature-sensitive dispersion in water and to its use in a method for modifying the water permeability of the absorption zone of an underground oil reservoir. According to an aspect, the present invention provides a method for reducing the water permeability of the absorption zone of a porous and permeable underground oil reservoir, the above method providing for the injection of a composition containing a dispersion of betainized crosslinked polymer microparticles in an aqueous fluid, down the well and into the absorption zone, and the betainized crosslinked polymer microparticles have a temperature transition that is at or below the maximum temperature present in the absorption zone i, and is more than the maximum temperature present in the well, and the betaine-crosslinked polymer microparticles are solvated by water, increased in size and not necessarily aggregated in the absorption zone when they are affected by temperature, which is more than the transition temperature, so that it decreases water permeability of the absorption zone.
