titleOfInvention BAND GRAPHIC RECORDER HAVING A DIFFERENTIAL CAPACITOR AS A POSITION SENSOR IN A RECORDING FEATHER POSITION SERVO.
abstract Strip chart recorders in which the curve is recorded by a rotating pen (11) which traces the curve along a contact line (14) which is the generator of a support roller (15) suffer from a tracing error insofar as the ordinate of the curve, which should be proportional to the angle of deflection v of the feather, is in fact proportional to the tangent of this angle. This trace error, which makes measurements on the curve impossible, can be compensated by incorporating into the position servo, which serves to overcome friction losses in the recorder, a position sensor in the form of a differential capacitor ( 20, 22, 23) whose differential capacity, a function of the angle of deflection v of the nib, is proportional to the tangent of v. In one embodiment, this is obtained by the fact that the movable plate (20) and the fixed plates (22 and 23) of the differential capacitor are each of them delimited by a set of parallel lines (21, and 24, 25 ), and that the differential capacitor, when it is in its average position, presents a symmetry of reflection around a plane perpendicular to the plates and passing through a zero line (17).
