Azo dyes of the formula I. in which R is linear alkyl having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, R 'is linear alkyl having 3 to 5 carbon atoms and isopropyl are prepared by dyes of the formula II in which X denotes cyan or Hal and Hal represents a halogen atom, in particular chlorine or bromine, in a manner known per se to a nucleophilic exchange reaction, the cyanide ion CN ⊖ being used as the nucleophilic agent. The dyes of the formula I and dye formulations prepared therefrom are used for dyeing and printing hydrophobic fiber materials. |
