titleOfInvention | Circuit for generating analog signals |
abstract | A tone synthesizer circuit (10) includes a multi-tap resistor (86) producing a plurality of separate voltages at the taps (T1-T16). A switch (88-118) is provided for each of the connections (T1-T16). The branch switches (88-118) are organized into four groups. A second group of switches is organized into two groups and each of the switches of the second group is connected to one of the switches in each of the first groups. The switches of a third group (164-170) are each connected to one of the switches of the second group (132-138). Circuits responsive to a digital clock input signal produce a group of control signals on control lines (66-72) which are respectively connected to operate each of the four groups of the first switches (88-108). Other circuits responsive to the digital input signal transmit control signals through control lines (74, 76) to operate the second group of switches (132-138). Another circuit operates in response to the digital input signal to produce control signals on control lines (78, 80) to operate the third group of switches (164, 170). The first, second and third groups of switches are operated such that an output terminal (168) is sequentially connected to each of the connections (T1-T16) of the resistor (86). The branch connections are calibrated and selected in an order to produce an output sine signal at the output terminal (168). |
