| abstract |
A slide valve includes a valve body (1) having lights (6, 7, 8) and a plug (4) mounted therein and sliding relative to a cylinder liner (2) in the body of the valve to control the opening, interconnection and closing of the valve lights. The plug carries a block (12) forming a sealing member which is located in a floating manner in a recess (11) in the plug (11), and which comprises one or more galleries (15) to ensure the interconnection between two or more of the lights in one or more defined positions of the plug. The sealing member (12) also has at least one sealing surface (14) for sealing one or more of the openings in one or more of the defined positions of the plug (4), the sealing member being biased towards its sealed closing position using a fluid pressure applied through at least one of the lights. |
