titleOfInvention Print disk positioning system
abstract A printing disc positioning system provides lateral and rotary motion to a printing disc (20) having embossed or depressed characters, for the purpose of positioning the appropriate character in the machines of a station. 'impression (22). The positioner includes a fixed rail (44) which is driven by the rotation of a motor (38) having a pinion (42) which drives a rack and pinion gear (82) connected to a rack arm (80) which in turn slides a second motor (54) mounted on bearings (56) on the rail (44). The motor (54) ensures the rotary movement of the disc and the motor (38) its lateral movement. Each motor is electrically controlled to perform an appropriate sequence of movements and bring the disc into proper alignment in the printing station at the appropriate time.
