titleOfInvention Image sensor for a dual-mode "day-night" camera
abstract The invention relates to an image sensor for a camera provided with a double function, in "day" and in "night" mode, having in an air-emptied envelope a semi-transparent photocathode for transmitting the incident photons or the converting into photoelectrons according to the "day" mode or the "night" mode respectively, and a detector capable of converting, into an electrical image signal, the incident photons or the photoelectrons and electronic means for focusing the photoelectrons on the detector, and optical means for focusing the photons on the photocathode or the detector according to the "night" mode or the "day" mode respectively. The invention is remarkable in that the semi-transparent photocathode consists of a thin plate having at least one active layer of an n-ary material III-V, in that the detector consists of a transfer device of two-dimensional charges, and in that the electronic means for focusing the photoelectrons on the charge transfer device, consist of proximity focusing means.
