abstract The invention relates to a fat mixture for baby foods and is characterized in that it contains the highly unsaturated fatty acids arachidonic and docosahexaenoic acid from fats of animal or vegetable origin in a ratio of docosahexaeno to arachidonic acid of 1: 2.0 to 1: 3.0. wherein the content of arachidonic acid in the fat mixture is 0.12 to 1.0% by weight and that of docosahexaenoic acid is 0.05 to 0.5% by weight with a total content of both acids of 0.17 to 1.5% by weight.n n n The fat mixture is particularly suitable for the preparation of infant and premature baby food.
