titleOfInvention | Process for selective or simultaneous elimination of noxious substances from smoke gas through irradiation of the smoke gas with electron-beams |
abstract | A method is used to selectively or simultaneously remove toxic materials, in particular sulfur oxides and / or nitrous oxides, contained in flue gases by irradiating them with electron beams. The method is applied in successive stages, in a chain formed of at least two stages each provided with at least one electron accelerator or an electron acceleration head which serve as a source of electron beams. The smoke gas is irradiated by partial doses of irradiation which together give the desired total dose of irradiation. The smoke gas must be mixed between the irradiation stages. The irradiation chamber of each stage is adapted to the shape of the irradiation field, its dimensions being approximately equal to the effective radius of action of the electron rays used in the irradiation chamber. |
