The present invention relates to a process for chlorination by gaseous chlorine of phenolic compounds substituted in ortho positions with respect to the hydroxyl function.n n n More specifically, it is a process for chlorinating these phenolic compounds in the molten state or in a solvent medium, by chlorine gas, in the presence of an organic cation.n n n The present process is particularly applicable to the chlorination of 2,6-dichloro-phenol to 2,4,6-trichloro-phenol. |
