The present invention relates to a process for the electrochemical synthesis of saturated alpha ketones by electrochemical reduction, in an organic solvent medium, of saturated alpha organic halides in the presence of CO₂ and of a nickel-based catalyst complexed by a biazotized bidentate organic ligand such as 2,2′-bypiridine and optionally with an ethylene coligand.n n n The anode, made of a metal chosen from the group consisting of reducing metals and their alloys, is consumed during the electrochemical reaction of which it is the seat. It is preferably made of magnesium.n n n This method is simple to implement and allows the use of a single compartment cell.n n n Saturated alpha ketones are compounds commonly used in the chemical industry, in particular as solvents or synthesis intermediates. |
